Chinese Made

The following article is from madeinUSAForever.com. Everyone should read!!!!
CHINA CHALLENGE
Not many years ago I was walking in Shenzhen, China when I noticed a mother allowing her young son to eat out of the garbage just below a new skyscraper. Looking around, there were scores of street people and many bore the marks of industry gone bad – missing limbs, etc. The police keep them off the main roads, yet they were always there, just steps away behind the scenes.

I wondered how could a “people’s government” be so unconcerned for its own people? In much of the world, people have no choice. “Communism” in China is simply a word that a run amuck pseudo-capitalist police state hides behind. The working conditions and pollution coming out of the subcontractors that really make things in China shows in some ways the dark ages still have not ended.

Incredibly, this is the nation that we have closed thousands of American factories for in favor of their chintzy versions. In exchange for our jobs, we get “low, low” prices. With the low prices, we get poor quality. In the end, we actually end up paying more. For example, having a 20% or more, lower initial price tag, but also having to replace that item twice as often is not a good deal.

“But, they have lower wages” is the line I always hear in the media, yet I know the real numbers from my former executive positions and that is only part of the story. There is more on this in my book, but if we can get even a somewhat level playing field on issues like product safety, worker safety, and particularly China’s massive currency manipulation, then WE CAN go head to head with them in nearly every industry.

I learned many things while living in Asia for seven years, most importantly is what a precious, rare thing true freedom is and how blessed I am to be born in the USA.

The hallowing out of our industry is killing millions of good jobs here, as well as weakening us from the inside out. It is a challenge we must face every bit as important and insidious as what we faced and defeated in WWII. Luckily, each one of us can make a real difference in the outcome. No other nation gets to decide the USA’s fate. It is time to roll up our sleeves and do what Americans do best – fix problems.

Schools and local governments should buy from local businesses.

I've received several calls lately from a company wanting to know if I would support my local school and purchase an ad in their football schedule for the upcoming season.  I said sure I would be interested, but when I questioned the salesperson I found out he was calling from a company several states away.  I had to tell him that I do support my local school in property taxes and the taxes I pay on my home.  The problem is they don't support me in giving those tax dollars back to the local businesses that can preform the same services that they need.  We need to insist that our elected officials buy locally whenever possible.

Are the Chinese Sponsoring Your Local Sports Teams?

I guess this is a rhetorical question, but we all know our kids are not being supported by the Chinese government.  Our Little League, Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, Football, Dance, Cheer leading, on and on and on, groups are all supported by the local business that in turn depend on the local customer.  I think we should give new thought on these companies that faithfully support our kids.  Let's make sure that we are faithful to them and their products and services.  If something happens to them I'll bet you the Chinese won't be sponsoring your child's soccer team.  Next time you see that company's name supporting the kids, be sure to thank them.  We can buy back America if we all get serious about it.

Buy Back America. Buy American Made Products

You may think like I once did that American made products cost more.  At first glance that might be true but a further study will show that cheaper is not always better.  The foreign made products that flood our country can even be bad for your health.  In this country we know what is in our food, clothing, toys, furniture, and all other products.  That in it's self costs a little more.  We certainly know most of the foreign goods just won't hold up under daily use.  Our country again needs to take back the lead in manufacturing.  Americans need the jobs and our country needs the productivity and prosperity.  Let's all go out today and look for the American made product.  If you can't find it in your Wal-Mart then ask for the manager and tell them to get American made products in the store.  If enough of us will do just this and quit buying the cheap Chinese junk, we can buy back our country.

Which Is better, wood or aluminum silk screens?

Over many years now I have heard people discuss the merits of wood and aluminum frames.  Of course aluminum frames can get much higher tension but that's not always needed depending on the job.  Wooden screens when properly made can provide lasting service at a greatly reduced cost.  Our customers can use the screen and either have us re-mesh it or simply toss it.  Sometimes it is not cost effective to ship a screen back for re-meshing.  An aluminum screen should be bought with the intention of re-meshing.  If you have a large operation with many screens it then becomes cost effective to ship a pallet back for re-meshing.  In smaller operations it is better to expense out the cost of the screen unless you are close enough to a company that you can drop off a few screens for re-meshing.  We can re-mesh an aluminum or wooden 20x24-110 mesh for $8.58.  A new 20x24-110 mesh wooden screen sells for $12.49.  At that price you can make money and that's what we are all trying to do.  As always Sunbelt Mfg. Co. stands behind our screens 100%.  Until next time Happy Printing!!
